Year 6

Class teacher Mrs Connolly

In Year 6, pupils continue to develop higher order reading skills, such as inference, reasoning and deduction. Tables are fluent and are used to solve a range of arithmetical calculations. Pupils continue to use high quality texts as a basis for their writing through ‘The Power of Reading’. They have a 5 day residential trip in October. They take on a wide range of responsibilities around the school. In May they take the Statutory Assessment Tests. At the end they take on acting roles in the Y5 and Y6 production before moving on to their secondary schools. They are given an exciting broad and balanced curriculum which includes the Power of Reading.
